Mount Congreve House and Gardens situated in Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford, in Ireland’s Ancient East is home to one of “The Great Gardens of the World”. Mount Congreve House, home to six generations of Congreves, was built in 1760 by the celebrated local architect John Roberts.

The Stables Café
At the Stables Café, 350 metres matters. It is the short distance to Mount Congreve’s walled and kitchen gardens—and where our menu begins. Wherever possible, ingredients are grown, harvested, and foraged close by, letting the gardens shape what appears on your plate. When produce cannot be sourced on the estate, we work with trusted local and Irish producers, measured in kilometres and clearly marked on the menu - so you can see exactly how far your food has travelled, from garden to plate. School of Horticulture
Begin an annual programme each April, timed to the growing season. Achieve a formal QQI qualification at the Mount Congreve School of Horticulture, training daily within world-renowned gardens, historic botanical facilities, and new teaching classrooms in Mount Congreve House.

Stretch your legs, fill your lungs with fresh air and let the kids run free as you meander through woodland paths lined with spectacular collections of camellias, magnolias and rhododendrons.

Accessible to all our visitors, enjoy year-round, ever-changing fragrances as you journey through varied plant collections and glimpse the woodland garden to the west and the walled garden to the east. The walled garden contains gradients and may be challenging to navigate for those with limited mobility. We advise guests to take this into account when planning their visit.
